Truthiness

Check it out. 77% of adults polled said they trust scientists to tell the truth. It's because of all those scientific ethics classes we have to take.

I'm surprised that 19% of people don't believe what scientists say. Who are these people? Why are they so jaded about scientists?

You know what? I know who that 19% is. Other scientists.

I'm guessing that the 19% of people who don't trust scientists are much like the 77% that do...in that the vast majority of those in either category of people doesn't understand what the hell scientists are talking about. Perhaps more people are willing to accept scientific findings blindly than they are to reject them blindly. Or really, these %19 of people could have been the same 19% that 'did not trust' any of the professions ranked as less trustworthy than scientist, as they are generally untrusting people.

We also must consider that included in the 77% of people who do trust us are those that purchase Pantene Pro-V products because of the "nourishing amino-peptide complexes" they advertise. Blind trust as a result of ignorance isn't always a good thing.
