mid-Holocene buffalo chicken tenders (?!)

Well, maybe they hadn't mastered the Buffalo sauce just yet. Nonetheless, an article in Science (NYT synopsis here) reports that chili peppers have been used in cooking for almost 6000 years, predating pottery in some regions.

You beat me to post on this one. Did you notice where the OLDEST chilis were grown? That's right. Ecuador. Guess we're the home of The Original Buffalo Sauce.
We call it "Ají", and we literally put it on everything. Next time I go down there I'll bring some back for you guys.
